42 castles are settled along the river Loire. They represent the French “Renaissance”, which started in the reign of François I . The Italian inspiration is evident and reminds us of great artists such as Leonardo da Vinci who came to France to take part in the building of Amboise and Chambord.
Among the most remarkable castles Chambord with more than 420 rooms and 282 fireplaces and 77 staircases is certainly the most impressive . Chambord was built in 1519 and is emblematic of the French Renaissance.
But Chenonceau who was loved, administrated and protected by women,( Catherine briçonnet, Diane de Poitiers,Catherine de Medicis....) is considered as a masterpiece.
